The Phalanx are the standard Heavy Infantry of the Classical Age Classical Age, available to upgrade from Hoplites and trained at the Barracks.

Overview[]

After Hoplites become Phalanx, they gain +25 hit points, +2 attack strength, and +1 line of sight. The Phalanx retains its ability to crush enemy Light Infantry, and become key to counter the Light Cavalry, and specially, the Heavy Cavalry that arises in this age. They also are still very weak against Foot Archers, and even weaker against the new Ranged Cavalry, which will inflict continuous damage to a Phalanx without being caught. In addition, they are still great against buildings, but will be overshadowed somewhat by the appearance of Artillery Weapons in this age.
