Legions are the Roman unique Heavy Infantry of the Classical Age that replaces the standard Phalanx.
Overview[]
Compared to Phalanx, Legions have +2 movement speed, and more importantly, do +100% damage against Heavy Infantry. This means that Legions are a relentless force, for an army of Heavy Infantry (or most other unit types) from other nations is hardly a match for a force of Legions of similar size, and only an opposing force with abundant Foot Archers or Ranged Cavalry (or Elephants), has a chance of stopping them and living to tell the tale.
Trivia[]
- The fact that Legions upgrade from Hoplites cleverly references, intentionally or not, a little-known part of history; for the earliest Roman heavy infantry troops were equipped in Greek Hoplite fashion.
