Nation Overview | Strategic Overview | CtW Information | History |
The Koreans are one of the 18 nations in the original Rise of Nations. They have the Power of Tradition, which is based on the fact that Korea during the Joseon Dynasty have deeply preserved their traditions to the point of isolating themselves from outside influence, giving them the moniker "Hermit Kingdom".
Power of Tradition[]
- Start with a free Temple, can build Temples without needing to meet the
Science research prerequisite, and receive Religion upgrades for free.
- In Nomad and City Center Only games, the free Temple is not given and no compensation is provided. The other two bonuses apply as normal.
- Start with an extra 1 Citizen, receive 3 when you build your second City, and 5 for all future Cities.
- Citizens repair buildings 50% faster. They may also build and repair buildings under attack without penalty (taking damage).
- The 50% repair rate actually means that the time needed to repair is reduced by 50%. Thus, Korean Citizens repair twice as quickly as other Citizens.
- Receive the Militia, Minuteman and Partisan upgrades immediately and for free, as soon as they become available.
- A Tower does not need to be owned/constructed to receive the free upgrades - they're given as soon as each upgrade's prerequisites are fulfilled.
- Towers are 33% cheaper.
Unique units[]
The Korean unique Foot Archers have +7 hit points, +1 attack strength, and +1 armor compared to the standard units they replace.
The Flaming Arrow fires more slowly than the Catapult it replaces (60 frames cooldown instead of 55). The Heavy Flaming Arrows fires more quickly than the Trebuchet it replaces (60 frames cooldown instead of 65). Both have faster projectiles and their accuracies are less attenuated by distance. Additionally, both have a 35% damage bonus against buildings, on top of the other bonuses they receive as Artillery weapons.
