Nation Overview Strategic Overview CtW Information History

The Greeks are one of the 18 nations in the original Rise of Nations. They have the Power of Philosophy, which is based on the historical facts of ancient Greek city-states being the "birthplace of philosophy", where many concepts considered ahead of its time were formulated, such as the concept of philosophy itself, democracy, reason and inquiry (fundamental in early stages of science), et cetera.

Power of Philosophy[]

  • Library research 10% cheaper (except Knowledge) and 100% faster.
  • Can build Universities and collect Knowledge from the beginning of the game.
  • Start with a University.
    • When starting with the Nomad option, the free University isn't given.
  • Libraries and Universities 66% cheaper.

Unique units[]

The Greek unique Heavy Cavalry have 36 movement speed instead of the 30-33 of regular Heavy Cavalry. Additionally, except for the Companion, Greek unique Heavy Cavalry have a 5% damage bonus against buildings and units.
