Continental Marines are the American unique Gunpowder Infantry of the Enlightenment Age that replaces the standard Musketeers.
Overview[]
Compared to Musketeers, Continental Marines have +8 hit points as well as the ability to automatically entrench themselves after they are idle for 5 seconds, which unlike the General's special ability, works in neutral and enemy territory. The Transport Galleon they are boarding also gains +70 hit points and +2 movement speed per Military research. Continental Marines also do -20% damage to Heavy Infantry but do +5% damage against Light Cavalry and Heavy Cavalry.

Continental Marines are incorrectly referred to as Marines in balance.xml, although this has no practical effect on the file because they have no non-standard (not 100%) damage modifiers anyway.
Trivia[]
- The Continental Marines are based on their namesake, although their uniform is actually modeled after the Continental Army from the American Revolutionary War era.
