The Armed Supply Wagon is a Dutch unique support unit that replaces the standard Supply Wagon.
Compared to the standard Supply Wagon, the Armed Supply Wagon is an overall improvement, being able to last more in every situation: It is much tougher, with +35 hit points, +1 armor, and more favorable resistances to most units (see below). It also has the ability to actually defend itself, unlike standard wagons, with a slow-firing (40 firing rate, or a shot every 2.7 seconds) attack of 6 strength, and maximum range of 8 tiles, and +1 line of sight to aid with its attack, although still lower than its maximum range. Armed Supply Wagons also gain +10 hit points, +1 attack strength and +1 armor per Age.
These advantages can do the Armed Supply Wagon much good by helping it to fend off and/or dissuade raiders from an apparently easy prey, and assist supporting units in dealing with attackers, but they will still need protection. Supply Wagons, whether they're armed or not, will never be able to fend on their own, and will be quickly decimated if left unprotected.
- For more information about the use of Supply Wagons, see Supply Wagon.
There are many differences in unit matchups compared to standard Supply Wagons. Because the Armed Supply Wagon is not classified as a "civilian" in the game files (though they still cannot be bribed), Ranged Cavalry do not receive their +50% damage bonus against them as is the case with other Support and Civilian units, and actually, Ranged Cavalry (and Mahouts) only do 66% damage against the Armed Supply Wagons. Also, Machine Guns do not receive their +400% damage bonus, and Modern Infantry do not receive their +20% damage bonus when attacking Armed Supply Wagons. On the other hand Heavy Cavalry, Light Cavalry and Biplanes do not receive the usual 10% damage penalty against them either.
Trivia[]
- The Armed Supply Wagons are visually identical to most standard Supply Wagons. (The situation is different for Armed Caravans and Armed Merchants, which have their own unique models.)
