Archers are the standard Foot Archers of the Classical Age, available to upgrade from Bowmen and trained at the Barracks.
Overview[]
After Bowmen become Archers, they gain +10 hit points and +2 attack strength. Like all Foot Archers, Archers make excellent garrisons, increasing a building's garrison power more than other unit types.
Upon reaching the Medieval Age, standard Archers from nations with the Arab, Asian, East Indian and European unit styles can be upgraded to Crossbowmen. The nations with American and Iroquois unit styles can upgrade to Heavy Archers instead, making Archers the only unit in the game with an alternate non-unique upgrade. Both units have the exact same stats, except for the faster projectiles and attack animations of Crossbowmen.
Unique units[]
- The British train Longbowmen instead.
- The Koreans train Elite Hwarang instead.
- The Nubians train Kushite Archers instead.
