Commerce Research available at the Library. It is preceded by Barter and is required to research the third Commerce technology, Trade.
Researching Coinage further increases the 
Commerce Limit of all resources (except 
Knowledge) by +50 and the 
Caravan Limit by +1. It also enables the trading of resources at the Market and the colonization of new continents.
